—The girls of Stratham
Girl Scout Troop 166 collected and delivered over 15
boxes and bags of food, diapers, and formula to New
Generation Shelter in Greenland recently. Troop leaders
Rochelle Jewell, owner of My Om Yoga Studio, and Maria
Cousins of Stratham, gave the girls information
regarding area non-profits and let them decide which
organization to support with a month-long campaign. The
troop chose New Generation, a shelter for homeless
pregnant women and mothers with newborns, as the
recipient.
Collection boxes were
brought to various places in the community but didn’t
fare well. The troop then volunteered to work a 3-hour
shift at a local supermarket, asking shoppers to donate
baby items on the shelter’s wish list. On April 1, the
girls delivered the donations before touring the
shelter, its daycare, thrift shoppe and furniture barn.
